Frequently Asked Questions

1. What does an infant sleep consultant do?

An infant sleep consultant helps families develop healthy, age-appropriate sleep habits for their babies. Through personalised sleep plans, support, and evidence-based strategies, I address common challenges like frequent night waking, short naps, or difficulty falling asleep.

2. At what age should I start sleep training my baby?

Sleep training can begin around 4 to 6 months of age, once your baby is developmentally ready. I will work on a one-to-one programme with your baby once he/she has gone through their 4-month sleep regression. However, we can start working on gentle sleep foundations from birth to encourage healthy sleep habits early on – see my newborn package for more information on this.

3. Is sleep training safe for babies?

Yes, when done appropriately and with your baby's age, temperament, and needs in mind, sleep training is safe. I use responsive, evidence-based methods that prioritise your baby’s emotional well-being and your parenting style.

4. Do you use “cry it out” methods?

No, I offer a range of sleep training approaches and work with you to choose one that feels right for your family. Many parents prefer gentle, gradual techniques that involve staying present and responsive to their child.

5. How long does it take to see results?

Most families begin to see improvements within a few days to a week, depending on the baby’s age and consistency with the plan. For long-term success, I build habits that support independent sleep.

6. My baby only naps for 30 minutes. Can you help?

Yes! Short naps are a common concern. I’ll look at your baby’s schedule, sleep environment, and wake windows to extend naps and create more restorative sleep.

7. What’s the best bedtime for my baby or toddler?

Ideal bedtime varies by age, but most babies and toddlers benefit from a bedtime between 6:30 and 8:00 PM. I help families tailor bedtime based on their child’s sleep needs and daily routine.

8. Can you help with toddler sleep issues too?

Absolutely. I support families with toddlers facing bedtime battles, night wakings, early rising, and transitions like moving to a big-kid bed or dropping naps.

9. Do you offer virtual consultations?

Yes, I work with families worldwide via virtual consultations. You’ll receive a custom sleep plan, ongoing support, and personalised guidance no matter your location.

10. What if my child has reflux or another medical issue?

I always take medical concerns into account. I’ll work with your paediatrician’s recommendations and adapt the sleep plan to fit your baby’s unique health needs.

11. How is your sleep consulting different from others?

I offer a highly personalised, compassionate approach that respects your parenting style and your child’s temperament. My goal is to empower you with tools and support to improve sleep without added stress.
